Undeniable Value! Spend your money wisely.

September 21, 2011

It's definitley time for a new blog entry and we will work to update more often.  This is a new avenue of communication for us, one that we are finding to be quite tricky.  In day to day converstation, we tend to find humor in the ridiculous and absurd, we're a bit sarcastic and dry humored.  Obviously that doesn't translate well to the written word.  Sarcasm can come across as negative or flip.  Both of which our group is not!  On the opposite side of the spectrum, we don't want to come across to formal and boring.  Please hang with us as we find our blogging "voice".  We have a lot of Sign Industry knowledge and valuable expereince to share.

All that being said, we want to address the undeniable value of a good sign.  Our community is full of ambitious entrepreneurs.  There's not a lot of industry in the Wilmington, NC, area.  People often go out on their when they can't find an exisiting position to suit their needs.  Unfortunately, a lot of folks approach their signs as a "necessary evil" of doing business.  They've often exhausted their budgets in other areas leaving very little for their image.

According to an article by U.S. Small Business Administration, regarding the importance of signs to a business:

"The Bottom Line

On-premise signage can be a business's single most important
advertising vehicle.  Whether used to create brand equity, to
promote impulse buying, or to safely guide customers to your
door, on-premise signs can mean the difference between business
success or failure.  In the modern market-place, the right
place-based advertising will effectively and economically permit
the local shopkeeper to successfully compete, even with the mass
merchandiser or large retailer."

The article goes on and on about the overall value and cost-per-impression of various signs as compared to other forms of advertising.  Come on folks, if you are in business for yourself or make the decisions for your organization you have to take your signs seriously.  Chances are, you have competition in your marketplace.  Your sign is the first impression you give about your professionalism and how you will treat the customer.  It doesn't matter how good you are at what you do or how much merchandise you have on the shelves, if people can't find you you can't win them over!
